Hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions and injuries can be complex problems requiring the care of a highly trained, experienced, and board-certified orthopedist with specialty training in the hand and upper extremities. Dr. Michele Y. Yoon is just that. Utilizing the latest advanced techniques, state-of-the-art technology, and her specialty training that includes both operative and nonoperative therapy modalities, Dr. Yoon provides her patients with the highest quality orthopedic surgical and minimally invasive procedures. Her goal is to relieve your pain, improve your mobility and function, and restore your ability to utilize your upper extremities to improve your quality of life.

Dr. Michele Yoon attended the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering. Dr. Yoon’s passion for research and engineering led her to develop a novel polymer composite material for bone substitution while obtaining a master’s degree in biomaterials from New York University.

Dr. Yoon then attended the New York University School of Medicine where she served as an anatomy fellowship mentor and tutor for visiting international medical students. While attending the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Yoon received an award for humanism in medicine.

She then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin and obtained further subspecialty training by completing a combined orthopedic and plastic surgery hand and upper extremity fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During this fellowship, Dr. Yoon received advanced training in the operative and nonoperative treatment of upper extremity disorders involving the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder.

Dr. Yoon is well-versed in minimally invasive surgical techniques and the use of complex orthopedic biomaterials, ensuring her patients have access to the latest health care technology. Additional specialty training at a combined orthopedic and plastic surgery fellowship allows her to provide comprehensive care for all injuries involving the upper extremity.

To stay at the top of her field, Dr. Yoon participates in academic orthopedic conferences. Dr. Yoon also attends local and national orthopedic and hand surgery meetings. She is a board-certified member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand (NYSSH). Dr. Yoon is also active with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
